Who better to start an adult VR website than a virtual reality production company? That’s what HoloFilm Productions must have thought when they initiated HoloGirlsVR and it’s sister site KinkVR.

Mid 2015, the young VR company launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for this adult VR startup. Not long after HoloGirlsVR went live. Unfortunately, adult VR didn’t seem to pan out as expected, cause the HoloGirlsVR site hasn’t been updated since early 2018.

1. Video quality (9/10)

By far, most adult VR websites are owned by studios that have been in the adult industry for ages. Since technology plays a major part in the quality of the virtual experience, it’s good to see a company driving on virtual reality technology to plunge into the x-rated content business.

What does all this have to do with image quality? Well, from a production company we expect nothing less than a stunning virtual experience. Time to put them to the test!

As soon as the first video started playing, we noticed how vivid the image was. The colors were amazingly bright and the picture was as sharp as it gets. We’ve done quite some (re)viewing and always focus on looking from a tech perspective, trying to find any flaws. However, this time, we couldn’t help being immersed in the experience.

With a field of view of 220° the viewing area is a bit wider than the standard 180°. We did not really notice this as a big benefit, but we also didn’t get distracted by the edges of the viewing area as we were with other sites we’ve reviewed. In fact, we like that HoloGirlsVR ‘blurs’ the edges, so that the transition to the surrounding black space is eased.

Other review sites mention distortion issues with some of the videos. Those must have been older ones, because we tried to find any flaws, but we simple couldn’t. While VR technology evolves quickly, in 2 years we might be used to a much higher standard. Right now, it is pretty damn good. So we don’t mind giving HoloGirlsVR a well-earned 9 out of 10 for viewing quality.

2. Production quality(7/10)

As mentioned HoloFilm productions, the company behind HoloGirlsVR, is not an adult studio by origin. This becomes noticeable when you browse through their video archive.

It’s not that the scenes are all that bad, but they are a lot of the same.  We see this on other sites as well (who have plenty experience in the porn biz), however on HoloGirlsVR it seems a bit more, well… hollow. The male actor must have a tough job lying still, not moving, because the scenes mostly show passive positions, with the girl is sitting on top.

The fact that the girls does most of the work is common in VR productions, but HoloGirlsVR could try to add some more variety. The experienced porn stars interacting well with the camera though, talking dirty to you and really pulling you into the scene.

The scenes are shot professionally, with ample light and an advanced camera setup being used. This shows, seeing how realistic the experience feels.

The videos last anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. Most of them have a duration of about 20 minutes which is quite short, but just long enough to settle into the experience.

Sets and locations 
HoloGirlsVR thought of some original locations, such as the insides of a porn set (as shown above) and a strip club where you actually get to see the girls perform. However, most scenes take place in common places, usually indoors in a bedroom or the living.

3. Collection quality(6/10)

Right now HoloGirlsVR showcases more than 200 videos. In the beginning, they expanded their collection at a fast rate. After some time, the update frequency slowed down a bit, and since early 2018 no new videos have been released. This is why we lowered their collection rating to 6 out of 10 (used to be 8/0).

You shouldn’t expect a lot of ‘niche videos’ here, but there’s enough variety so satisfy most users. There’s some lesbian, solo, threesome, MILF, interracial and even a couple of orgy scenes.

Models collection
HoloGirlsVR features little over 100 models at the moment, which isn’t much. Most girls feature in multiple videos. The porn star gallery shows a small image of the models and their rating. The site needs to update this page as not all models have a photo, some images just show a silhouette.

The diversity among the models is large. There are blondes, brunettes, redheads, white girls, Asians, ebony skinned and Latinas. They come in all shapes and sizes. Most of them are born in the USA and Canada but there are also some European, Asian and even Australian girls.

When you go to the model detail page, you’ll see some additional info on the girl and quite a number of images in different poses.

4. Ease of access(7/10)

When we first entered hologirlsvr.com, we weren’t exactly overwhelmed with the site’s appearance. The retro look made us feel like we were visiting an adult DVD rental site ten years back in time. We prefer a clean, modern look and would expect this from a recently launched site that’s into virtual reality content. But what really matters is the usability.

And the usability actually isn’t bad. HoloGirlsVR tries to optimize the viewing experience for you by letting you select your device.

The video page provides a decent overview of the collection. There are some search and filter options, nothing too advanced. You can’t browse videos by category, but you can search by tag if you know what to look for. The porn stars page allows you to view the models and browse the videos they feature in.

On the video detail pages you’ll find the synopsis, cast, some tags (clickable) and stills of the video. A nice attribute is the ‘best viewed’ icon, that shows whether the video is best watched sitting or lying.

Currently, HoloGirlsVR supports only 3 devices:

• Smartphone (for cardboard variants)
• Samsung Gear VR
• Oculus Rift

HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and DayDream are not yet supported at this time.

As with most sites, to watch the videos you need to download them. There’s a dropdown which allows you to select your device. We got an average speed of 4.5 MB/s, so downloading large videos can take some time.

HoloGirlsVR allows you to download a sample of each video, which is very handy for potential subscribers valuate their offering and for members to preview a scene before downloading the full video.

5. Value for the money(7/10)

The fact that HoloGirlsVR isn’t part of a large adult content network, means that subscribing to it doesn’t give you additional access to other adult sites. They do have a separate site called KinkVR that specializes in rough VR videos (currently 140+ videos). However, right now they don’t offer any bundle packages, so you need a separate subscription for it.

Support is provided though email and it can take a long time to receive a response (if you get any). The site does have detailed guides with screenshots that explain how to view the videos on the supported devices.

Subscription is priced at $17.99 a month or $7.99 for a year, which is reasonable. However, since HoloGirlsVR does not update the site anymore, we really advise to go for the monthly subscription only.

Our verdict

HoloGirlsVR is a retro looking adult VR site, with a medium sized video collection. The excelent viewing combined with at relatively low monthly fee of $ 17.99 make them interesting. However since they stopped releasing new videos, we recommend to try a monthly subscription only if you really like their current collection of videos.
